“Limbay” came straight to Canada fifty years ago as a fresh Nursing graduate, a product of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas and the Southern Islands Hospital in Cebu City, Philippines. She worked as an RN in the Philippines, Manitoba, and BC.
Limbay was the President of the CirculoIlongo Association in BC for two terms dedicating her time to raising money for scholars in the Philippines, she volunteered to be Director of the Philippine Community Centre for 4 years,served in a Medical Mission to the Philippines as an RN, received a citation from the Canadian Red Cross in BC and the Yukon division for Humanitarian Services. She served as President of the Dumangas Association in North America, Vancouver Chapter, awarded Most Outstanding Jubilarian of her batch in 2011 for Humanitarianism and Community Service both in the Philippines and abroad.
She also received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Award in 2013, awarded the Dungganon (Dakilang) Dumangasanon in May 2013 for her generous contributions and humanitarian services in the Philippines and Canada, received the Maharlika Award for Leadersip and Community Service in BC on November 2013.
Currently, Limbay is actively helping the Multicultural Helping House Society connect with other civic groups in other Canadian provinces building collaborative partnerships for the Pre Arrival Program of new immigrants from the Philippines. Limbay has served as Director in MHHS for 20 years.
