MHHS Youth Group PIC

MHHS Youth Mission: To empower the Newcomer, New Immigrant, Refugees, and the diverse Multicultural Youth of Canada in a dynamic, relevant, and all-rounded approach.

We focus our free services in the four main building blocks of youth empowerment:

  • RECREATION: Field Trips, Sports, Arts, Music
  • CAREER PLANNING: Resume Clinic, Job Search Assistance, Financial Student Aid Resources
  • ACADEMICS: Academic Mentorship, Homework Assistance, Bursaries
  • CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Skills Building Workshops, Leadership Skills, Volunteer Opportunities

You can join the program if you are:

  • A newcomer to Canada
  • 13-24 years old
  • looking for friends, resources and opportunities

 

Service offerings

Weekly after school activities
Youth oriented activities that incorporate the physical, mental, socio-emotional and psycho-spiritual aspects of growth through:

  • Cultural awareness
  • Collaborative projects with the Seniors
  • Birthday and holiday celebrations
  • Drop-in style activities

Powerhouse sessions
Sessions that help the youth discover themselves through:

  • Teambuilding
  • Talent awareness and Career planning
  • Homework help and Tutorial Session

Youth-related workshops, camps and conferences

  • YouthPolitik- City of Vancouver’s civic education and leadership development program
  • BC Youth Week’s Race Around the World
  • UBC’s Inspire Camp
  • Tax Seminar for Youth entering the workforce- Canada Revenue Agency
  • SACY Drug and Alcohol Abuse
  • Character building (Love Languages, Healing the Wounded Heart)

Recreational activities

  • Field trips
  • Sports
  • Music
  • Arts
  • Dance

Volunteer opportunities and community work are also offered.
